| 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM | What Long-Term Care Hospitals Need to Know About Interrupted Stays
Did you know that long-term care hospitals (LTCH) are subject, under Medicare, to two different interrupted stay policies, the three-day or less interrupted stay policy, and the greater than three-day interrupted stay policy? It is important that LTCHs know when/how to properly report such interruptions on Medicare claims so they will not be returned to the provider (RTP) for corrections. Submitting the claims correctly the first time saves time and money for everyone involved.
In this session, we will review:
- Three-day or less interrupted stays
- Greater than three-day interrupted stays
- How to count the days of interruption
- How to code a claim when it is necessary to report one interrupted stay or multiple interrupted stays to a single claim
- LTCH responsibility to another provider who may have rendered care to the beneficiary during the interruption
- LTCH resources
A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
