1:00 PM - 2:30 PM	Preventing and Resolving Claims Rejected for Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) Did you know that providers can often use the information collected from the beneficiary during your Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) screening process to prevent (and/or resolve) claims from being rejected due to the presence of MSP file(s) in the Common Working File (CWF)? Knowing how to prevent (and resolve) these MSP claim rejections will save time and money for everyone involved. In this session, we will review the steps providers can take to prevent primary claims from rejecting due to the presence of open Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) file(s) in the Common Working File (CWF) and the steps that providers can take to resolve such claim rejections should they occur. In addition, we will discuss the importance of using the MSP-related information collected from the beneficiary in order to prevent and resolve claims that have rejected for MSP involvement. We will also provide contact information for the Coordination of Benefits Contractor (COBC) and the Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Contractor (MSPRC), as applicable, for situations in which it is necessary to have these entities update the MSP file(s) in the CWF so that the provider's claims can be processed.
