The end-stage renal disease prospective payment system (ESRD PPS) is being implemented effective January 1, 2011. The ESRD PPS implementation and related changes were announced via Change Request 7064 and are specific to ESRD facilities billing services to Medicare on a 72X claim type. If you provide ESRD services to Medicare beneficiaries with ESRD, then this session is just what you need to ensure an understanding of the new requirements! Session 2 will provide information specific to the consolidated billing requirements under the ESRD PPS. Please note: This is the second in a series of three Webinars. Each session will provide different aspects of the new ESRD PPS. The second session will provide information on consolidated billing requirements for ESRD facilities and is geared toward ESRD facility staff, including administrative and billing staff as well as other ESRD facility staff who require an understanding of the consolidated billing requirements under the ESRD PPS.

This course provides an overview of how to bill Medicare as the secondary payer after receipt of full or partial payment from the primary payer. Attendees are provided with detailed instructions on how to complete the appropriate claim fields in order to submit MSP claims to Medicare. Claim scenarios are also provided. This course does not include detailed electronic claim (837I) instructions; however, references to various electronic claim fields as well as electronic claim submission resources are provided.
